The Before Time on the Oasis...
Hello weary traveler to the Oasis. A place where you can relax under a palm tree, enjoy the soothing waters of new age and lite jazz music, and refresh your soul.So like a lot of Newton Server people, I played with the Newton server, and it had the basic setup. And there were articles on New Age and Jazz songs. I found an internet archive link, and here it is...

LOL, that is so cool. I've always loved the Newton Roger gif image of the pirate flag. Great stuff.
Later, probably hanging on Atariage, I found that you could display a youtube playlist in a window, and that was added to the Oasis site. And so, a Newton site about music WITH music was born! Here is what the website looked like when we first started that:

I was thinking of reposting all the articles from the archive on the current site, but you can still visit them on that link!

Eventually Sylvain thought of some ideas he wanted to try on the website, and the way of loading remotely the graphical frame you see now came about. Sylvain's added some other features that were needed, like security features for posting messages.
So that is how things started here on a Newton server that became a server about New Age and Lite Jazz music, that eventually found a trick for playing music!
Maybe other tricks will be found to tell other stories on Newton servers aside from "Screenshots, Dashboards, address books, and white boards". Maybe we could have an arcade and the server points to a website that features a window for running emulated games, and the Newton server features mutiple such windows?
For the playback YouTube option like here on the Oasis, about a radio, but it has buttons that select pre-sets on the radio, accessing different playlists? Have a rock station, a jazz station, a religious station, country, etc. Someone in a remote part of the world could run something like this, set up the playlists, and give others a chance to experience radio as they hear it!
Or make the Newton server your journal where you share your book and book universe that is being written!
I've seen some truely beautiful Newton servers since the Sylvain spruced up the Oasis, and I hope to see more.
